Privacy policy

Last updated: April 2026

Overview

Itsyhome is designed with privacy as a core principle. The app operates entirely on your device and does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. Your smart home data stays on your device.

Data we access

Itsyhome accesses the following data through Apple's HomeKit framework and/or the Home Assistant API:

  • Home and room names
  • Device names and states (e.g., light brightness, thermostat temperature, lock status)
  • Scene names and configurations
  • Camera snapshots and live streams

This data is used solely to display your devices and allow you to control them. It is never transmitted outside your device.

Device permissions

Itsyhome may request access to:

  • HomeKit – required to discover and control your smart home devices
  • Microphone – only used for two-way audio (talk) on supported cameras, requested only when you use the talk feature

Data we store

Itsyhome stores your preferences locally on your device:

  • Favourite devices and scenes
  • Hidden devices, rooms, and scenes
  • Custom icons and colours
  • Device and room ordering
  • Display preferences
  • Trial start date (stored in Keychain)

These preferences are stored only on your device and are never synced or uploaded anywhere, except for iCloud-synced settings on macOS when you enable that feature.

In-app purchases

Itsyhome offers a one-time in-app purchase to unlock the full app after a free trial period. Purchase transactions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store any payment information.

Data we do not collect

Itsyhome does not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Personal information (name, email, etc.)
  • Usage analytics or telemetry
  • Crash reports
  • Device identifiers
  • Location data
  • Any data to third-party services

Network communication

Itsyhome communicates with your HomeKit setup through Apple's secure HomeKit framework and/or with your Home Assistant instance over your local network. Camera streams are transmitted directly between your device and the camera over your local network. The only external network requests are to Apple's servers for in-app purchase verification.

Third-party services

Itsyhome does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Open source

The macOS version of Itsyhome is open source. You can review the source code on GitHub to verify our privacy practices.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
